The Municipal Commissioner is the head of executive wing. The Municipal Commissioner is one of the authorities under the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888. The Municipal Commissioner is appointed by Government of Maharashtra under section of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888. The Municipal Commissioner is responsible for development and maintenance of civic infrastructure of the city.
